The SensorThings API is an open standard by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) designed for sharing time-series data from sensors and observations in a structured, machine-readable way. It enables interoperable access to real-time and historical data, linking measurements with metadata such as location, time, and measurement context. For our research, this is essential to ensure that sensor-based data—ranging from field observations to model outputs—can be easily discovered, accessed, and reused by both humans and machines. By adopting the SensorThings API, we make our environmental data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and integrate it seamlessly into broader data infrastructures.
